A community of wonderful people is wishing Eddie
Kempf a Happy 90th Birthday today, August 2nd. The family is having a card
shower for him; P.O. Box #64, Max, North Dakota 58759-0064. I miss seeing Eddie
walking with his little dog.
The last swimming session will be held on August
6-10. For those of you signed up, the bus will leave the school at 10:00 and
return around 1:00 (actual lessons run from 10:45-12:15). Please be on time for
dropping off and picking up. The cost is $36.50 per child (or if you are a Max
Civic Club member, $18.25). Please be sure to send payment made out to the YMCA
on Monday with your child or they may not be allowed to swim. If you have any
questions, please call Lynae at 679-2505 or contact Amy Hauf the week during
swimming lessons.
Last week Max Stolt enjoyed a nice visit with his
granddaughter, Tyia Beskoon. Tyia lives in Nampa, Idaho and is the daughter of
Jeff and Edie (Stolt) Beskoon. She had a great time attending the fair and
visiting with her relatives. They are all looking forward to her next visit!
Do you like to collect things? Here is your chance! The Max Senior Citizens
and the Max Public School will collect the Box Tops for Education; Joyce
Malling is in charge of these. Colleen Johnson is in charge of the collection
of Our Family labels, including the UPC code. For each box top collected, the
school receives 10 cents. The Our Family UPC codes help the school purchase
playground equipment and music items for the music department in the Max school.
There are fliers up around town about 'Filling a
Shoebox' so be sure to read one. These filled shoeboxes help the needy children
get their school supplies.
The combines are rolling and so is the dust!
Winter wheat harvest is fully underway in 80 and 90 degree temperatures. Don't
overdo it!
