The Senior Citizens Tea Party and Quilt Show held this past Saturday was a huge success! Many came from other towns and were very surprised at the beauty in the Center with all the quilted items, decorated tables, and fancy food. It was a fundraiser for the ongoing success of the Senior Center. Sixteen fabulous door prizes were given, with several men winning, along with the women. Our next event will be our
Rummage Sale on August 8th while the City Wide rummage sales are going on. The proceeds will go to the Center. If you have something you would like to donate to the Center's sale, just bring it by. It will be dhighly appreciated. We want to thank Marian Schmidt for purchasing and planting the beautiful flowers in front of the Center
Archie Zahursky is home now and doing very well. Richard Podruchny needs your prayers as he is having to doctor out of state. Sharon Strilcov is doing very well in her home in Minot but will be having some bone marrow tests in a week and requests your prayers. There are alot of cases of shingles in the Max area, with many still suffering with them. Let's remember them too. Harold Erlien is now a resident at the Garrison Nursing Home. There are quite a few Max men and women residing there now.
John and Kathy Swanepoel, newlyweds living in Kathryn Osadchy's house, invite you to their marriage celebration street dance on Friday, August 14, 2009. Free admission and everyone is welcome. Social hour will be at 6 p.m. and at 8 p.m. the band "All Aces" will begin playing. Congratulations on your marriage, John and Kathy!

Thursday afternoon visitors with Lila and other ladies decorating at the Senior Center, were Myron Sveum and Mary Jane Gentile from San Diego. Myron came for his high school reunion in Minot.
Dinner guests with Lila Fannik on Friday were John Paul and Jaunita Steenbakker and their two children, Nadia 2 years old and Lucas 7 months old. They are from Washington State. Also there were Lori Lundblad and her sons, Micah 4 years old and Benjamin 3 years old, from Wyoming. Jaunita and Lori are sisters and are Lila's Grand nieces. They are the daughters of Loren and Karen Dvirnak.
Reminders: Sign up for the free local seminar on Medicare before July 30th. This is being held on August 11th. in Minot. Also, the Max Rodeo is coming up on August 7th. and 8th, with the city-wide rummage sales being held on the 8th. Contact Susan Halverson at 679-2607 or at 679-2697 if you are planning on having a rummage sale. She will add your sale to the map and include it in her advertising of the sales. It is well worth the small fee.
Reminder regarding the Max School is the Bleacher Fund. The new bleachers will be so much easier to climb and much safer with the handrails to help you. You may donate funds in honor of someone or in memory of a loved one. Contact the school at 679-2685
July 30th. is Senior Day at the North Dakota State Fair in Minot. The bus may be going up for this if there are enough riders. Contact Duwayne Haynes if you would like a ride. He then contacts whomever is in charge.
This Saturday is Annie Rovenko's Estate sale - another loved one gone and another house in Max up for sale. Last I heard, there are four houses for sale in Max. Annie's, Margaret Bernston's, Wayne Johnson's, and the former Seventh Day Adventist Church building, which has been remodeled into a home.
