September 23, 2010

We extend our sympathy to the family of Harold Erlien, 96, of Benedict and Max. Harold passed away in a Minot nursing home. You may remember him for his big smile as he walked in Max or sat on the Main Street benches.

This coming Sunday, September 26th there will be a noon potluck at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Max to honor Erna Hauf on her 96th birthday. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The funeral for Elmer Dvirnak, 94, of Killdeer was held on Tuesday afternoon. LaVonne Fannik, Lila Fannik, and Delvin and Kristie Fannik, and Dennis, Karla and Casey Fannik attended Elmer's funeral in Dickinson. Also attending were Carolyn and Will Barden, Kenny and Ruth Honcharoff, their son-in-law Chad and their grandson Nickolas. Elmer was our brother-in-law and uncle. He will be missed.

"I think the purpose of life is to be useful, to be responsible, to be honorable, to be compassionate. It is, after all, to matter, to count, to stand for something, to have made some difference that you lived at all." Leo Rosten
