March 14, 2013

There is a message in the Max website, maxnd.com, from Steven James Olson of Standwood, Washington. E-mail address is solson512@yahoo.com . He writes: "Hello, I was doing some family research and happy to find a website for my father's birth place. His name was Delmer James Olson. He was born in Max back in 1917 and had a sister Evelyn, my aunt. She also passed. He and my grandparents moved to Washington State back before WWII. I hope someday to visit Max with my family and see if we can find any information on the family looking through old records. Thanks for letting me say hello, Steve Olson."

Max Farmers Elevator Annual Meeting  - Tuesday, March 19th. Supper starts at 6 p.m. with meeting to follow.

Be sure to read over your March Community calendar for other events you may want to attend. March's calendar is pink in color.

Last week some of us thoroughly enjoyed watching the "B" basketball teams compete at the Minot State University dome. There was a lot of music and entertainment also. Some special music was being played on the first day of the games but not heard nor announced....the Max Band. They played several times - the school songs while the people sang to them - and several other songs too. They are directed by Colleen Zabka of Max. There was also 'canned' music going on which pretty much drowned out the Max Band. It was not announced which band was there nor did the television people scan over the band. There were many disappointed grandparents and friends back home watching closely for a peek at the Max Band.

This past Sunday the Max Senior Citizens' French Toast and Sausage breakfast was enjoyed by many. The Max FFA helped with the serving and were very appreciated. The silent auction held was very successful also. These funds are used to pay the Senior Citizens' building bills like insurance etc. We want to thank everyone for coming.

Another event in Max was the World Day of Prayer service held at Our Savior Lutheran Church. There was a lot of music and readings and the speaker was great. The turnout isn't very good for these services anymore....we hope we don't lose the opportunity to host it.
