October 7, 2010

This Sunday, October 10th, is Our Savior Lutheran Church's Annual Lutefisk and Meatball dinner. They will be serving from 1 to 5 p.m., with the Praise Band playing at 12:30. The LYO (Youth) will be having a bake sale and an afghan raffle. Everyone is welcome.

Civic Club meets the next day at 6 p.m. at the Civic Center - Monday, October 11th.

On Wednesday, October 13th, take advantage of the convenience of getting your flu shot, without having to leave town. The McLean County Flu Clinic will be held at the Max Senior Center from 1 - 2:30.

Write it on the calendar - the All-School Reunion meeting will be held on Sunday, October 17th at 3:00.

October 24th will be Immaculate Conception Catholic Church's Soup and Sandwich Luncheon. October 30th is the Max Civic Club's Annual Steak Fry and Dance. On November 7th the Dough Boy Breakfast will be held. More on these events later.

Max Public Library's Halloween Party will be Friday, October 29th from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the Civic Center. All children from toddler to sixth grade are welcome to attend. There will be games, prizes, a costume contest, a snack, and more.

The Max Public Library is looking for donated books to sell at their first annual book sale, to be held in conjunction with the Soup & Sandwich in February. Books can be dropped off with Amy at the library, or placed in the book drop in the entry to the Civic Center. In preparing for the Soup & Sandwich event, the library is also looking for items that can be raffled off. Any businesses or individuals who donate will be given public recognition for their generous contributions. Monday, October 25th is the deadline for items for this raffle. This allows time to have the tickets printed and available for sale by December 1st, 2010.

The Max High Girls and Boys basketball players from grades 9 through 12 are now selling tickets for a raffle that will raise money to support the teams. The raffle will give out a $100 first prize and a $50 second prize at each of the home basketball games from November 30th to February 19th. Each ticket, therefore, has 11 chances to win. The tickets are very reasonable, considering what you may win! A maximum of 200 tickets will be sold. Interested persons can contact any of the players for tickets. They can contact Dennis Fannik or Mr. McQueen with questions.

Recipes are still very much needed for the Senior Citizen cookbook that will be for sale during the All-School Reunion in early July 2011. Again, you may submit them online at this website: www.gandrpublishing.com. The user name is 'cossacks' and the password is 'over55'. Or you may mail them to Joyce Malling at P.O. Box 122, Max, ND 58759 - or give them to any Senior Citizen.

This week's news has quite a few 'requests' and 'opportunities' - let's get these filled before the busy holiday season settles in - or winter arrives!
