The Max News is written each week by Margaret Zaderaka.

Spring has sprung! There is evidence of that with the City of Max holding its annual Community Clean-Up Day on Saturday, May 1st. The city landfill will be open from 9:00 to 1:00 p.m. Branches and similar burnables can be dumped free of charge. Normal rates apply to appliances and other non-burnables. For questions on rates or what you can dispose of in the Max Landfill, call the City Auditor's office at 679-2770.

This evening, Thursday, April 22nd the Max High School will be having their Pops Concert at 7:30 p.m. at the school. There have been reports of a very fun Dairyland Donkey Basketball taking place last week in Max. And also very good reports on the students' play also held last week. You can be guaranteed the Pops Concert will also be great.

Good News Club meets every Monday directly following school, in the school cafeteria.

The Max Plunge ended at 3:29 p.m. on April 8th when the jumbo can fell through. The top winner's guess was within one minute of the time of submersion, with the second and third place winners' guesses within two minutes, and fourth place winner within three minutes!! What a close contest!! The winners were Chad Wimer of Garrison, first place; Jason Strand of Surrey, second place; Amanda Iverson of Bismarck, third place; and Paul Schlichting of Garrison, fourth place. It is nice to have the out-of-towners take an interest in a Max event. The money raised by this will be going towards purchasing new picnic tables for the city parks. Congratulations winners! You will find more information on the Max Plunge by going to www.maxnd.com/plunge.html. For more information on the city parks, go to www.maxnd.com/park.html.

Don't forget to save your Our Family product bar codes for the Seniors. You may leave them at the Senior Center or give them to any Senior.

Apologies to Becky Schmaltz and Ed Kranz on the lack of published information on their baby's baby shower held this past Saturday at the Senior Center in Max. The little girl has been named Athena Louise. Elaine Kohler was her great grandmother. Congratulations to the families.

Tomorrow, Friday, April 23rd at 6:00 p.m. the Seniors will be holding their combination potluck and April meeting at the Over 55 Club building on Main Street. New members and/or visitors are welcome anytime. This is the first meeting being held at 6:00, also stating that summer is coming. Don't forget to plan to take in the Seniors' Bake Sale and free pie and coffee on May 8th when Kyle's Greenhouse will also be on hand with their beautiful plants. A door prize will be drawn during this and the raffle for several items will also be held.
