December 23, 2010

We extend our sympathy to Alice Olson's family. Helen Jacobson and Robert Olson are Alice's sister and brother.

Winter has arrived with more snow; Christmas is around the corner; then we start a new year! Where did 2010 go?

Two deadlines are coming up on Dec.31st: To renew or enroll in your Medicare Plan D Prescription Drug Plan and for getting your recipes to the Senior Citizens for their new cookbook. Contact Dwight or DeeOn Mack at 679-2623 to set up an appointment to meet them at the Max Senior Center to privately discuss your Medicare prescription plan. Recipes can be given to any Senior Citizen, mailed to Joyce Malling at P.O. Box #122, Max 58759, or entered on-line at gandrpublishing.com, using 'cossacks' as the user name and 'over 55' as the password.

On Friday of this past week, Lorna Sambor, Lila Fannik, and Phyllis Narum attended the Christmas Party at the Benedictine Living Center in Garrison with their sister, Margaret Scurlock. While there they visited with Frances Spitanik at The Meadows. The group also stayed for supper. What a wonderful day and way for Phyllis Narum to celebrate her birthday, too.

On Friday evening, Margaret and Eugene Zaderaka attended the performance of The Nutcracker at Ann Nicole Nelson Hall on the campus of Minot State University. Their granddaughter, Hannah, danced in three segments of this performance. Her father and mother are Dean and Heidi Zaderaka of Minot. Hannah is nine and has been dancing with this group since she was four. It was a very professional performance, highlighting costumes and scenery brought over from Russia, where the teacher is from. Many of his former students, now as young adults, returned to take part in this performance. This was also scheduled for Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon.

Postponement: The Max Library Partners will be having their board meeting on Jan. 4th at 9 a.m.

Blessings to you and yours for this special birthday celebration -- the birthday of Jesus. We hope the weather will cooperate but please remember, "You can make your plans, but the Lord makes the weather.' --Taken from the back cover of the Country magazine.

"Most people are searching for happiness. They're looking for it. They're trying to find it in someone or something outside of themselves. That's a fundamental mistake. Happiness is something that you are, and it comes from the way you think." Wayne Dyer
