Guestbook and Information Request glitches: October 23, 2015

If you have recently attempted to use the Request Information or Sign Our Guestbook forms on maxnd.com and received no response, we are sorry to say that these forms were unknowingly inoperational recently. The forms stopped working because of a glitch that developed when Reservation Telephone toughened their email security.  The Site Manager became aware of the problem yesterday when a web user used the other given email contact to notify her of the problem. The glitch is now fixed, and we apologize for any inconvenience that this has caused maxnd.com readers.  Please feel free to use the features again, and contact the Site Manager at tamraj@restel.com if you encounter any problems or do not receive a response to your inquiry in a timely manner. As I am writing this on Sunday evening, I look ahead to the Minot Daily News on its website and read the saddest news that Max's own Natalie Hankel, aged 35, passed away in a Minot Hospital this Sunday, October 18th. The benefit held for her just last evening in Max was a tremendous success, only to be followed by such sad news. The community extends their deepest sympathy to her family and friends. It is just so sad!

"Friends, we will hold a reviewal for Natalie Hankel at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Max, on Thursday, October 22nd from 1pm-7pm with a prayer service and Holy Communion to follow at 7pm. All are welcome to join us. After the service, you are invited to join us in the basement for a time of fellowship.
Friday, October 23rd, the funeral service for Natalie will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church, with the burial at Trinity Cemetery in Douglas. There will be overflow seating at the Max Civic Center with the service shown live-stream, and the meal will also be served at the Civic Center.
The reach of Natalie's beautiful smile is truly unending...the impact of her life touched more than we will ever know. Please hold all who grieve and those who live with illness of any kind in tender prayer.")

Tomorrow, Friday, October 23rd is the Senior Citizens' potluck and meeting. The potlucks (including a catered salad bar) and meetings are now being held at 12:00 noon at the Senior Center. A sign that fall has arrived!!

This coming Saturday evening, October 24th is Max Civic Club's Annual Steak Fry and Entertainment at the Civic Center on Main Street. Only 300 tickets are being sold....get yours at the Max businesses or from a Civic Club member. The proceeds will go towards Civic Club Projects: Summer Rec.; Garrison-Max Ambulance; and McLean County Resource Center. The entertainment is first class!! The "Magic and Mirth of Bill Sorenson" and "Off the Wall Humor of Clyde Bauman AKA Mylo Hatzenbuhler."

The very next morning you can enjoy homemade soups and sandwiches at the Catholic Church's Soup and Sandwich Luncheon, in Max. You may also enjoy some pie with your coffee or Kool-Aid while there. This is being held from 10:30-1:00 p.m. They are having a bake sale and a raffle for the beautiful Christmas Quilt that is presently on display at Bremer Bank on Max's Main Street.

Another sure sign that the 'dark comes back' earlier (one of our boys used to say that as a tyke!) is earlier closing hours for the Max Cafe. Mondays through Thursdays they close at 6:30 and close at 7:30 on the week-ends. Sunday hours are 8-2 p.m.
