We extend our sincere sympathy to Peggy Osadchy and family in the death of her brother, Kirby Carlson. Kirby lived in Douglas and passed away in a Minneapolis hospital.

Open House for Lorna Sambor's 90th birthday, this Saturday, August 27th from 2-5 p.m. at the Max Senior Center. Your presence is your present.

It is exciting to have the cafe open again in Max! Their hours are 7:30 a.m. - 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Sunday's hours are 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. They were able to open on Thursday, August 18th. Go see their new decor. A Grand Reopening event will be held at a later date.

Tomorrow, Friday August 26th the Max Senior Citizens will have their potluck and meeting at 6 p.m. There will be a speaker from the Minot University Seniors Patrol Group, talking about Medicare and Social Security. This is open to the public. This meeting starts at 7 p.m.

Sisters Lorna Sambor, Lila Fannik, and Phyllis Narum attended the outdoor service on Sunday at Spring Lake Church, Douglas. A large crowd of over 60 attended. The service was followed by a picnic dinner. Everyone had a wonderful time of fellowship.

Visiting recently with their Aunts Lorna and Lila were Carole and Paul Sherwood of Florida and Clay and Sharon Narum of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

School has started; a house is being built; elevator bins will soon be built, work is being done on the cafe, the trailer park and campgrounds are full, Joe Huettl and JoAnn Bragg are now married, so many things happening in Max and I'm sure I've missed many. And some people think Max is a dull little town - just take a drive around the city and see all the activity going on! It is very encouraging!
