April 12, 2012

Our prayers are needed for Raymond and Roselle Kostenko who have very serious medical problems. They are both in Trinity Nursing Home and it would be very nice if they heard from their friends in the area. Let's fill their room with beautiful cards.

Again there is a request for housing in the area. This family needs a 3 plus bedroom house. Contact Tamra Huesers if you have something or know of a house for this family. She can notify them by e-mail. They are from Minot.

Welcome home, Mary Lushenko! And welcome back into the community, John and Shirley Sizemore.

Easter Service and the Grand Re-Opening of the Bible Fellowship Church in Minot was held on Easter Sunday. This was their first service since it was restored after being flooded the summer of 2011. Those who attended from Max were Mary Lushenko, John and Shirley Sizemore, Lorna Sambor and Lila Fannik. They met some of the workers there from the Mennonite Disaster Service from Canada, Ohio, and Michigan. These volunteer workers will stay for a period of time yet. Lorna and Lila then enjoyed a delicious dinner at Mary's house.

This Thursday evening is Max High School's Junior/Senior Banquet. Their Prom is this Saturday, April 14th. The Grand March will be at 8 p.m. and the public is invited to watch.

Next Thursday, April 19th the Adult Foot Care Clinic will be held at the Senior Center at 2 p.m. Just call 463-2641 for an appointment. Bring your own towel.

Jerilyn Alexander spoke about recognizing strokes at Monday evening's Civic Club meeting. It was very informative. She gave out magnetic calendars with the listing of things to look for if you think someone is having a stroke. It can be reversed if helped within a three hour time span. About 18 attended the Civic Club meeting.

The Max Civic Club meets every second Monday of each month, at the Max Civic Center on Main Street. There are plans to have a speaker for each meeting with Child Abuse being the topic at one of the meetings. The Summer Rec events were discussed, such as the cost, the bus driver, and other areas needing to be covered to keep the children safe. If you are a member of Max Civic Club, your child can take part in the programs free, but if you are not a member of Civic Club, the fee for your child will actually cost more than membership in Civic Club! Election of officers was held with Holly Kersten being elected as President; Vice-President is Lesli Talbot, with Lisa Huesers as Treasurer and Joyce Malling as Secretary.

There will be a screening on April 20th at the Max Elementary School from 9:30-2:30 p.m. for children 3-5 years of age. Several areas will be covered regarding your child's development. Contact the Max Elementary School office at 679-2685 to schedule an appointment.

Margaret and Eugene Zaderaka enjoyed Easter Dinner out with Mark Zaderaka and their family; Craig Heuple and their family, Emanuel and Diane Heuple also. Several others joined in. Craig is Lori Zaderaka's brother and Emanuel and Diane are her parents. You will most always find us together after church on Sundays!

Then Margaret, Eugene, Mark, Lori, and their children Cole and Emily went to Dean Zaderaka's once flooded home to celebrate their daughter, Hannah's, 11th birthday. They are slowly getting everything moved back in and organized. This was their first day in their home. Marlo Zaderaka has also moved back into that once flooded home.
