Almost 50 people took advantage of the flu shots being given in the Max Over 55 Club building on Friday. Have you had your flu shot?

The ladies of St. Matthew's Lutheran are seeking names and addresses of local men or women serving in the military that are or will be deployed in the next three months. Care packages will be prepared and sent in late November. Contact any of the ladies with the addresses at your earliest convenience. If you have questions, contact Kathy Huettl at 679-2499 or Ethel Hauf at 679-2213.

Plans continue for the Max School Reunion to be held July 1-3, 2011. Co-chairs have been chosen for the event, but chairpersons are still needed for a number of committees including: registration and packets, Saturday banquet, entertainment, special rooms, fun run/walk, concessions, etc. Many of these committees have a sub-committee. Be sure to sign up on the alumni website if you can help in some area or to indicate your attendance plans. A parade is being planned for Saturday morning-each graduating class is being encouraged to have an entry. The next planning meeting is set for Sunday, November 15, at 2 p.m. in the School Commons. Mark your calendar to attend this meeting and provide your input and assistance in the planning for another successful event.

Something new: This coming Sunday the Over 55 Club building will open at 2 p.m. for anyone who would like to play cards, games, do jig saw puzzles, etc. Any age is welcome and you do not need to be a member.

Big Birthday: Max's oldest citizen turns 97 on October 21st. Ethel Boettcher will be honored with cake and coffee about 2 p.m. on Friday, October 23rd at the Over 55 Club building on Main Street. The Max Senior Citizens will be having their potluck at noon that day, with the meeting following. Then the birthday party! Everyone is welcome.

Saturday, October 24th the Max Civic Club is having their Annual Steak Fry and Dance at the Civic Center. Tickets are for sale at the local businesses. Only 300 tickets will be sold. Serving will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. The dance will follow with music by TNT Productions. The proceeds go to the Max-Garrison Ambulance and Civic Club projects.
