Many towns are without Rural Water. It has become a several day event, with only a dribble coming out of the water taps. Schools have had to close, cafes, and any business place requiring water so if you consider their restrooms, it would be almost every business. They say the water should be turned on Monday evening so by the time you read this, everyone should have a good pressure of water coming through their taps.

But once the water is running again, they are placing a 'boil order' because when the pipe broke, ground water entered the treated water. The 'boil order' will be in place until Wednesday when the North Dakota State Health Department is done testing the water, as required. (Editors note:  As of the time of publication, all boil orders have been lifted.  Please check www.nprwd.com for current information .)

Notice: Kyle's Greenhouse from Garrison will not be at the Max Senior Center in time for Mother's Day this year, as it has been for years. It is just too cold!! So Kyle will come with his plants and flowers on May 24th, from 3-6, in time for Memorial Day. May is Older Americans Month so the Seniors' Older American Day is the 24th. Coffee and bars will be served. There will not be a bake sale.

May 24th is also the Max Senior Citizens' normal potluck and meeting day so at 6 p.m. there will be the potluck and the meeting to follow. Since this potluck involves grilling hamburgers, bring only a salad.

Upcoming Civic Club events will be the City Wide Garage Sale on Saturday, June 15th. On June 14th there will be a 5K Run, and Zumba in the park on Saturday, June 15th. That evening the Annual Summer Solstice Picnic will be held. Sounds like Summer is arriving!

Water Outage Update for Max:  North Prairie Rural Water District is anticipating that residents of Max should start seeing water flow between 7:30 and 9:00 pm tonight.  This is only an estimate, so the actual time may vary.

Clarification on the boil order for Max:  North Prairie Rural Water District has not included us in the formal boil order they issued for some areas affected by this weekend's water line break.  They do not expect us to experience any contamination related to the break.  However, when water service returns to Max, residents may want to  boil water used for consumption as an extra precaution.  This is up to the discretion of the user.

North Prairie Water District is stating that it expects water service to return to Max and other affected areas by morning.  However, they are asking that people boil all water that is to be used for consumption. The boil order is a precautionary measure, and is to be observed until further notice.  More information on the water outage can be found at www.nprwd.com.
