May 21, 2009

Today, Thursday, May 21st is the last day of school in Max. Please watch for children on the streets. They may be too busy playing to notice a vehicle wants to pass so be patient - maybe toot your horn - but mainly, be careful. We don't want any accidents taking place in Max.

Kindergarten graduation will be at 10 a.m. today, Thursday. This is an exciting and tearful time for parents and children. The little ones grow up so fast!

Tomorrow, May 22nd, the Max Senior Citizens will be having their May - fourth Friday - 6:00 p.m. potluck and meeting. There are several very important topics to be discussed so come and 'discuss'! Remember, potlucks and meetings will be held at 6 p.m.on the fourth Friday of each month throughout the summer.

On Saturday, May 23rd at 2:00 the Max High School seniors will graduate! What a wonderful time - making memories. Max High School used to have their graduation ceremonies on Sunday but many people wanted to attend Max's and also other graduations - so now Max has theirs on Saturday, so you can attend any other graduation on Sunday.

Several LWML members from Christ Lutheran Parish of Garrison and Max attended the Mothers and Others tea and fellowship that was held at St. John's Lutheran Church at Kongsberg on May 8th. A salad luncheon was served and all enjoyed the food and fellowship.

The Sunnyslope Homemakers celebrated 60 years since it was organized. They reminisced about the lessons that have been given, the outings they have gone on and talked about why they like to keep coming to their homemaker meetings. There will be more about this celebration, and pictures, in next week's Max News.

Reminders: Did you contact Lynae Schroeder at 679-2505 to register your child for swimming lessons? Did you make a donation to the Max High School towards the new bleachers?

Looking ahead into June, the Centennial Cafe will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday but will not be open on Sundays in June. unless otherwise posted. The 2009 Summer Reading program with Vanessa Kramer will start in June, in the Max Public Library. On June 7th. at 2 p.m. there will be an alumni meeting at the school to plan the 2011 All School Reunion.
