August 12, 2010

Today, Thursday, August 12th is the last day for school registration. It will be held from 9 until 3 p.m. Max Public School begins Monday, August 23rd. Preschool starts August 31st in Max.

Have you been able to help those requesting items on the Max Web site's Swap Shop? A wheelbarrow or garden cart; a pressure cooker, and juneberry and chokecherry bushes are all wanted. The lockers in the physical education room at the school are selling for $5 each and will be sold on a 'first come' basis. You will need to dismantle these to move them. The lockers may be seen at the Max School now.

The City is requesting residents to watch for suspicious activity in the Parks and to notify the Sheriff's Department at 701-462-8103. Because of all the previous vandalism, the restrooms will have to be locked at about 9 p.m. each night and reopened in the morning. Make Max a safe and clean community!

Delayed news: Lila Fannik and Lorna Sambor attended the Douglas Picnic at the Douglas Senior Center. They had a wonderful time. Visitors at Lila's and Lorna's homes in July were their nephew Don and Jan Meronuck of Fargo; their niece Kathy and Rick Kresbach from Bowman, and niece Carole Scurlock of Florida. Marvin and Madine Krueger and grandsons Reuben and David of Newport, Oregon also visited, as did Pat McIntyre of Max. The ladies appreciate all these wonderful visits.

Eugene and Margaret Zaderaka toured Devils Lake and visited with Darlene and Gary Rose in Rugby on their way home. Darlene is kept busy with sewing 70-some lap robes for the long term care departments there in Rugby. This is something she has volunteered to do in other years too. Gary loves his job as a Maintainer driver for the Rugby area. They have purchased a very nice house in Rugby. Daughters Jenny and Kayla and their families visit often. Jenny lives in Streeter and Kayla lives in Bismarck.
