October 1, 2009
We extend our sincere sympathy to our Deputy Otto Walth in the loss of his Mother, Lillian Walth. The Walths are from Wishek and her funeral was held there this past Saturday. Otto has a brother living in Bismarck. My sister and Lillian Walth worked together in the kitchen at the Wishek Hospital for many years. I've heard many wonderful things about Otto's Mother.
A son, Thomas Xavier, was born to Pamela and Stuart Goehring of New Salem on September 17th. He is the grandson of Joyce Malling of Max and Marie Goehring of Dickey. Thomas has a sister, Catherine, who is 19 months old.
Carrie Malling and Patrick May were married on September 11th at Wilmington Lutheran Church of Arnegard, ND. A reception and dance were held at the Old School Bed and Breakfast. Family and friends found the Old School quite interesting. Carrie is the daughter of Joyce Malling and the late Leslie Malling.
This Sunday, October 4th is the Catholic Church's Fall Festival, serving soups and sandwiches. There will be a raffle for oil paintings done by Ellie Lindquist of Max. Serving will be from 10:30 until 1:00. Get your holiday baked goods at their bake sale.
Friday, October 9th, from 3:15 until 4:15 you may get your flu shot at the Senior Center in Max.
The very next Sunday, October 11th, Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Max is having their lutefisk meal from 1 until 5 p.m. They are raffling off a crocheted afghan that is on display at Bremer Bank in Max.
October 12th, a Monday, will be the annual meeting of all Senior Citizen groups in Wilton. This starts at 2 p.m. Max Senior Citizens are to provide the entertainment. If you would like to go along, even if you are not a Senior Citizen member, let us know.
Starting the next Sunday, October 18th., the Max Senior Center will be open from 2 o'clock on, for anyone to come and play cards, bingo, games or just visit. There may be more information on this as time goes on. You do not need to be a Senior Citizen nor a member to come enjoy the building and all it holds.
At the next Senior Citizen meeting, Friday October 23rd, there will be cake served to honor Ethel Boettcher on her 97th birthday. Ethel will turn 97 on October 21st. Everyone is welcome. This will follow the noon potluck and meeting. Remember that the monthly potluck and meeting will be held at noon through the winter months.
Then Saturday, October 24th the Max Civic Club will be having their Annual Steak Fry and Dance at the Civic Center. Tickets are on sale at Max businesses.
