It's open! The new Max Farm Services C-Store is
now open. It is all lit up and looks very inviting. We've seen four vehicles
filling with gas at one time, something that couldn't be done at the old
C-Store. There is food inside, even hot food. The old C-Store has closed its
doors. This is a new asset to Max. We
welcome you!
Max Civic Club's Annual Steak Fry is Saturday,
October 27th at the Max Civic Center. Get your tickets early. There will be
more information later on.
A large group of family and close friends
gathered at the Badlands Restaurant on Labor Day evening to surprise and
congratulate Margaret and Eugene Zaderaka on their 50th anniversary. Their
wedding had been on the same day at 2:30, 50 years earlier. Thank you everyone
for your surprise!
Later on, several of the friends and all of the family
gathered at Dean and Heidi's home for dessert. This house was flooded almost to
the roof so it is taking a long time to bring it back to normal. The dike
broke, allowing the water to enter the area but if the dike hadn't broken, they
would have had water in their basement only. Instead they had two inches of
gravel in their basement, left from the flood waters, and this had to be
shoveled out. These dikes were built after the 1969 flood and likely not maintained
nor reinforced.

that gets you from one moment to the next." Mignon McLaughlin
