Our sympathy goes out to the family of Frieda
McElwain, 93, of Minot. Frieda and her husband, the late Gordon McElwain built
a new house in Max and made their home here for many years. Frieda had been in
poor health for several months.
Lorna Sambor, Lila Fannik of Max, and Phyllis
Narum of Douglas, attended the Memorial Service at the Benedictine Nursing Home
in Garrison on March 22nd. Their sister, Margaret Scurlock and friend Ethel
Boettcher of Max were among those who were on the memorial list.
Several from Max helped Florene Knudtson of
Douglas celebrate her birthday in her home. We all had a good time and a good
visit with both Florene and her husband Maurice. It is hard for Florene to get
out of the house as Maurice is on oxygen 24 hours a day.
Phyllis Narum and her daughter, Sandra Sorenson
from St. Cloud, MN, and Lila Fannik all visited with Lorna Sambor recently.
On this past Sunday, Paige Hauf and Trevor
Schmidt were confirmed at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Max.
Several from Max and many from the Garrison-Emmet
area attended the baby shower for Jessica and Lance Zimmerman, held in the Max
Over 55 Club building this past Saturday. Jessica and Lance live in Garrison.
Rita Semchenko of Max is Jessica's Mother.
Mabel Albertson, formerly of Max, is pretty well
having to stay home because of all the pain she has from her fibromyalgia and
other arthrituses and now also because she has leukemia. Mabel was well known
for her lefse that she made. She would love to hear from you. Her mailing
address is: 12085 Highway #2 East, Norwich, ND 58768.
Janet Berke Carlson from Excelsior, MN stopped in Max to visit with Lorna
Sambor before going on to visit her Mother, Mona Berke, in Minot.
The Max Senior Citizens in the "Over 55 Club" building, are
'calling you'! Membership is only
$10/year per person. There is a lot of fun for the price!
On April 9th at 7 p.m.
at the Max Civic Center on Main Street, Civic Club will be having a speaker,
Jerilyn Alexander. Jerilyn will be
talking about the signs and symptoms of strokes. Everyone is
welcome. This is a meeting you won't want to miss.
