The community of Max is in shock and sad these
days. Raymond Kostenko, 73, of Max passed away in Trinity Nursing Home just one
week ago. His parents are the late Mike and Clara (Olsen) Kostenko. Raymond
graduated from Max High School in 1957. Raymond was married to Roselle Mclean
in Bottineau. This is a very difficult time for Roselle who is suffering with
Multiple Sclerosis, also, so let's keep her in our prayers.
Passing away on Friday was Ramona (Mona) Schmidt
Hanson from Ryder. Mona graduated from Max High School in 1948. Her parents are
the late Walter and Dorothy (Olsen) Schmidt. Robert Schmidt, her brother, is a
frequent visitor to his home town of Max.
In the Maxnd.com website there is a request from
Daniel Kapusta of Louisiana. He writes: "Hi I am Daniel Kapusta. My
father, George Kapusta, was born in Max, ND in 1932. He has now passed but I am
trying to find any information that you may have (old history, pictures, news,
etc.) regarding my relatives including my father (George Kapusta), my grandfather
(Phillip Kapusta) and my grandmother (Tena Kapusta) My grandfather, Phillip,
came from the Ukraine to Max in the mid 1920s or so and was a very active
farmer. He died in the mid 1950s but my grandmother, Tena, lived for another 30
years in Max. If you know anyone who has known my grandparents or my fater or
any of his brothers and sisters (Peter Kapusta, Alvin Kapusta, Katherine
Kapusta, or the oldest sister Nettie (Kapusta) Holmen, who I think lived
in/near Minot, I would so gratefully love it if you could put me in contact
with anyone who has information or stories about my relatives. I do remember my
father talking about the Fanniks, so maybe that family may still be around and
might know my relatives. If anyone has any news please have them contact me by
phone or e-mail. THANKYOU! Daniel Kapusta"
