December 8, 2011

We extend our sincere sympathy to Tom and Mary Hauf and family in the death of Mary's sister, Loraine Schlecht. Too many loved ones are leaving us these days.  Word was also received that Gerald Schmidt, formally of Max, has passed away.

Santa Day is this coming Saturday, December 10th, 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the Max Civic Center, starting with a free pancake and sausage breakfast. There will be a special appearance by Santa Claus! Donations of canned goods and a free will offering will be taken to benefit local food pantries. Donations can also be left at the Max Bremer Bank. This fun event is sponsored by Bremer Bank and the Max Civic Club.

Civic Club meets Monday, December 12th at 7 p.m.

Members of the Max Senior Citizens will be having their Christmas meal and party at noon on December 16th in the Over 55 Club building on Main Street. Membership dues will be collected at this time. Early in January of 2012, we invite any who might like to become members, to come spend time with us at our meetings or other functions we have. The January meeting will be January 27th, starting at 12:30.

Dusty Trails 4-H is sponsoring a winter clothing drive until December 19th. They are looking for donations of gently used or new children's hats, scarves, mittens, coats, snowpants, and other winter gear in good condition. A donation box is available at the Max School in the Elementary wing hallway for dropping off donations. Clothing collected will go to local children as well as the area Salvation Army.
