November 10, 2011

Less than a month left! Do not forget to call DeeOn and Dwight Mack to look over your Plan D prescription health plan. The one you have now may still be your best one but you won't know that until you have them check it out for you. They will meet you at the Max Senior Citizens building on Main Street in Max. Phone 679-2623.

Ed and Idamae Hauf returned recently from an 18-day N.E. Fall Foliage bus tour. They toured many historic landmarks and the Capitol in Washington, D.C. It was especially inspiring to visit the war memorials there.

In New York City, Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty were very impressive. It was exciting to view the amazing Niagara Falls from both the American and the Canadian side.

The autumn colors of red, orange and gold were most beautiful in Vermont and up-state New York.

Sunnyslope Homemakers met at Marian Schmidt's last week, with 9 members present. They planned their Christmas Party. December - and Christmas - is coming way too fast! Santa Day, sponsored by the Max Civic Club, will be December 10th at the Max Civic Center. The Max Senior Citizens will hold their November potluck and meeting early because of Thanksgiving. They will be meeting at noon on November 18th. They will be having a Christmas Party in December. Next week's news will have more details for you, about this party.

Darrin Hauf of New Melle, MO and friend, Kerry were visitors at the home of Ed and Idamae Hauf recently and spent several days hunting upland game in the area.

Meeting every week on Tuesdays from 3:20-4:30 in the Max School Cafeteria is the Child Evangelism Fellowship Good News Club. If you have any questions, please phone Cindy at 679-2031 or Lila at 679-2686. All children are welcome - there will be singing, Bible Study, and lunch.

The regular meeting of St. Matthew's Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML) was held this past Saturday, November 5th in St. Matthew's Church, with Pastor Nelson leading the Bible Study and Lonie Hauf was the hostess.

There will not be school this Friday, November 11th, Veterans' Day. There won't be any school over the Thanksgiving holiday, November 24th and 25th. And the last day of school for 2011 will be December 22nd.

Max Civic Club will be meeting this coming Monday, November 14th at 7 p.m. at the Civic Center on Main Street. The Max School Christmas Concert will be November 28th at 7 p.m. at the Max School.

Other events coming soon in the new year will be the Max Library's Soup and Sandwich luncheon which also includes a Vendor Show. All local individuals and businesses can display, advertise, and sell their products and services. If you would like to have a booth, please contact the Max Library Director Amy Hauf at the Library at 679-2263. The hours the Library is open have expanded to Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9:30-12 noon and 1-5 p.m.
