September 9, 2010

We extend our sympathy to the family of Doris Berg. Doris graduated from Max High School in 1957. Her funeral will be tomorrow, Friday September 10th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Garrison.

Grandparents Day breakfast will be held at the Max Civic Center this Sunday, September 12th. Serving of pancakes and sausage will be from 9:30 to 12:30. The free will offering proceeds will help defray the costs of publishing the Community Calendar, which you receive free. The event is being sponsored by the Max Civic Club.

A bridal shower open house for Krystal Kersten will be held at St. Matthews Church from 2 - 4, this Sunday. Krystal is the bride-to-be of Adam Wilcox.

Then at 3:00 on this Sunday, September 12th, there will be another alumni meeting for planning the 2011 All School Reunion. This meeting will be held at the Max School. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend.

The Max Senior Citizens will be publishing a new cookbook. Favorite recipes can be submitted online. The website is www.gandrpublishing.com; the user name is 'cossacks' and the password is 'over55'. It is very easy to submit recipes this way and also very helpful for the group in sorting the recipes and doing all the other work that needs to be done before the cookbook can be published. If you do not have a computer, nor access to one, you may mail them to Joyce Malling, P.O. Box 122, Max ND 58759. You may also give them to any Senior Citizen member. The deadline for the recipes is December 31, 2010.

On Friday Margaret Zaderaka joined her other sisters in Bismarck for a "Sisters Day". Her oldest sister, Florence Wiest, drove up from Wishek and Elaine Fischer and Margaret drove from Garrison. They visited the beautiful Veterans Cemetery where Florence's husband, Ray Wiest, is buried. It was a wonderful day. What a blessing to have family!

Mark your calendar for the Max Civic Club Annual Steak Fry and Dance. This will be held on Saturday, October 30th at the Max Civic Center. Only a limited number of tickets will be sold so get yours early! You may have noticed how many events the Civic Club has, so they need your attendance at their meetings. The next one will be this coming Monday, September 13th at 6:00 at the Civic Center.

"The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can't find them, make them." George Bernard Shaw
