July 15, 2010

The community is saddened with the death of Marvin Olson. Marvin, 77, passed away at a Bismarck Hospital. His wife, JoAnn, lives at the McLean Manor in Garrison. Her address is P.O. Box #99, Garrison, N.D. 58540. We extend our sympathy to JoAnn and the family.

This Saturday, July 17th, beginning at 1 p.m., the First Ever Demolition Derby will be held on the west edge of Max. Contact Joe at 391-5897 for more information.

The Max City-Wide Garage Sales will be held Saturday, August 7th. Contact Susan Halverson at 679-2607 or 679-2697 by July 31st so your location can be included in the Garage Sale map.

On Friday, July 23rd, the Max Senior Citizens will be having their 6:00 potluck, with the meeting to follow, at the Over 55 Club building on Main Street in Max.

St. Matthew's LWML is wanting names and addresses of area connected military serving overseas, so they may send them "Care Packages". You can give this information to any of the church ladies, before the end of July.

Did you know.....the year 2011 is the 50th Anniversary of the opening of the new Max School on the north edge of Max. So the All-School Reunion held July 1,2, and 3 of 2011 will be extra special for everyone. You are asked to check your e-mails, facebook, or join it at Max High School - also retrieve information from the www.maxnd.com website. Click on 'DO AND SEE' and go from there to the Alumni Registration Form. They need you to update your information from five years ago. All information may be e-mailed to Kathy Huettl at wkjh@rtc.coop or mail it to her at P.O. Box #284, Max, ND. 58759.

Your help is needed for the reunion - even if you don't live in the state anymore or aren't able to attend. Food vendors are needed for Saturday afternoon and/or evening. This is open to all 4-H groups, anyone having bake sales, etc. Please notify Kathy by September first, 2010. Also, if there is any group interested in serving a breakfast on Saturday morning and/or Sunday morning during the reunion, again, please contact Kathy.

There will be a Silent Auction and items are needed for that, along with items--large or small--to raffle off during the reunion. Fund raising ideas are also needed. Anyone have items for the Memory Room at the school, possibly items that haven't been displayed there before? Again, contact Kathy Huettl with any and all information you may have on these matters.

The next Alumni meeting will be held September 12th, a Sunday, at 3:00 at the School. You won't be put in as a chairman or co-chairman if you attend the meeting - but you may have some information or suggestions that will be very helpful.

Please notice how pretty our community is with the new maintenance 'gal' keeping everything neat. She uses the push mower to cut the grass around the Main Street businesses and then uses the blower to blow the grass clippings off the sidewalk. Compliment her!
