October 3, 2013

Next week, on October 11th from 1-3, flu shots will be given at the Senior Center on Main Street. Please bring your insurance cards. You will be paying a fee that day, too. Do not get the flu shot if you are not feeling well.

Our Saviors Lutefisk Supper is Sunday, October 13th. More details later.

And the Max Civic Club's Annual Steak Fry is being held on Saturday, October 26th at the Max Civic Center. Get your tickets early.

Let us fast forward, which is how the seasons are going anyway, and see what is being planned in Max for New Years Eve. It is called the New Years Eve Family Party, hosted by the Max Civic Club and the Southside Lounge. There will be a Chili Cook-off, Casino Night, and Live Band. They are looking for businesses, organizations or individuals to enter their chili in the competition. Contact any member of the Civic Club or Jessica Henne at henne4u@rocketmail.com or phone her at 679-2256 to enter.

People from Max, Douglas, and Ryder enjoyed Lauraine Snelling's presentation on her many books she writes. There was a question and answer session and she autographed books she has written, whether you purchased them that day or brought them from home. She thought Max was a nice community. She had only seen it from the highway before, as she traveled to the Hostfest in Minot year after year. There was a very good turnout for this event.

And the day before there was also a very good turnout for the Senior Citizens' Potluck and Meeting, held at 6 p.m. With winter upon us, from now on the potluck and meeting will be held at 12 o'clock noon.
