May 10th is Provider Appreciation Day for Daycare workers. Jessica Henne has a form from Gov. Jack Dalrymple re: our children. He writes "ND's most valuable resource is our children, and their working parents are the backbone of our economy; and available and quality care is vital to children and their working parents, and has a direct impact on the economy of our state; and of the 21 million children under age 6 in America, 13 million are in child care at least part time, and an additional 24 million school-age children are in some form of child care outside of school time; and Provider Appreciation Day offers a unique opportunity to recognize and commend child care providers for their dedication, compassion, and strong family values; ND child care providers, the ND Dept. of Human Services and other organizations across the state are working together to call attention to the importance of quality child care services for all children and families, and to enhance the quality and availability of such services; and North Dakotan's are encouraged to recognize child care providers for the important work they do every day in shaping the lives and futures of our children."
