May 16, 2013

There was a surprise family gathering to celebrate Vi Kostenko's 95th birthday this past week-end. She was very surprised! Almost all of the relatives were able to come. What a wonderful time for Vi and her family.

The Max Kindergarten Graduation is tomorrow, Friday, May 17th at 10 a.m. at the school. The Max High School seniors will graduate the next afternoon, May 18th, at 2 p.m.

Next Friday, May 24th Giffey's Yard and Garden will be selling their flowers and plants at the Max Senior Center on Main Street, from 3-7. This is Older American Day so the Seniors will be serving coffee and bars. There will not be a bake sale this year.

At 6 p.m. the Seniors' potluck will be held, with the meeting to follow. Bring only salads.

City Wide Rummage Sales are June 15th 9-3. If you are interested in having your sale listed on the city map, contact Jessica Henne at 679-2256 or henne4u@rocketmail.com no later than June 7th. There will be a $5 fee and you will get house numbers and maps to hand out on Friday, June 14th.

On the cover of the 2013 McLean County Phone Book, a handy thin book, you will notice one surprised little girl, Angel Becker, riding one of Warren Schmidt's sheep in the mutton busting at the Max Roughrider Rodeo, 2012. Angel is the granddaughter of Carolyn and Robert Barden of Max. Also shown are Casey and Dennis Fannik.
