April 18, 2013

Snow, snow, and more snow. Now mud and more mud. Have you noticed how the bad-weather days have fallen on a Saturday or a Sunday now?  This doesn't affect the school days, which is good. But we remember wondering if school was cancelled on that stormy day. In town weather always seems milder than it is in the country and I found myself saying that Pastors and School Superintendents should live in the country so they could see right away what the weather was like!

Deadline for Max Summer Recreation Ball Programs registration is April 19th, tomorrow, Friday. You can call Sara Ruhland with any questions at 529-4858.

Don't forget to log on to www.bountifulbaskets.org on Monday 22nd to contribute to the Max produce co-op. 1 p.m. sharp. Don’t miss out!!

Pick-up for your fresh produce will be at the Max School on Saturday April 27th at 3:30 in front of the Max School. If you have any questions contact Jessica Henne.

Here is a bit about this Bountiful Baskets Food Co-op. As a group, you purchase high quality produce at wholesale prices. Items are then distributed evenly among site participants.

If you do not have access to their website where you make monetary contributions toward the pools used to purchase produce, or if you have any questions, you should contact Jessica Henne at 679-2256.

Volunteers are needed to arrive at the site location (Max School 3:30 on 4-27) at least an hour before pick up time or stay after the distribution to help clean up. Let your Volunteer Site Coordinator know that you want to help and they will gladly put you to work!

Reasons to participate in this co-op:  It is a great deal and you are helping others get  store-quality produce. With the produce offerings, you get approximately $50 worth of grocery store-quality produce. This co-op encourages a healthier lifestyle, and you meet great people!

Today, April 18th is the Health and Foot Care Clinic at the Max Senior Center.  At 7 p.m. the Music Contest Concert will be held at the school.

April 26th, Max Senior Citizens' Potluck and meeting at 6 p.m.  A special member has a birthday that day too!

The next day, April 27th, 2-4 p.m. there will be an Open House at the Senior Center to visit with Duwayne and Linda Haynes, also Linda's birthday, and daughter Kristin. Enjoy Gold Canyon Candles and other items Kristin brings from Arizona. A percentage of the funds raised will go to this Senior Center toward their operating bills.

Of interest:  The power was off in Max on Sunday during the blizzard, and off long enough for it to get cold in the homes. The pole by the elevator, causing the outage, was fixed. Word is there was a burglary at each bar in Max on Sunday too.

Upcoming: Activities Banquet April 30, 2013. City Wide Garage Sale June 15 and the Annual Summer Solstice Picnic that evening.
