We extend our deepest sympathy to the family of Edward Kabanuck who passed away in a Huron, South Dakota nursing home at the age of 89. Ed and his wife, Sally, lived in Max before moving to Huron. Their daughter, Diane Berg, lives in Max.
In the Max website, Maxnd.com, there is another housing request you may be able to help with. You may contact the Andersons of Oakes, ND at 830-2278 or e-mail them at daycarecountrykids@hotmail.com. Several earlier housing requests have been answered and the individuals are now living in Max.
Coming up on January 27th the Max Senior Citizen members will be treated to a catered meal at noon in the center--sort of a belated Christmas gathering.
The year 2012 has arrived with cold temperatures and wind. Last week's warm temperatures brought very un-seasonable rains that iced over roads and sidewalks. Warm temperatures are now needed to melt the ice. Be careful!
School has started and among other things, meetings have started up again. The Dusty Trails 4-H Club meets this Sunday at 2:30 and the Max Civic Club meets this coming Monday, January 9th at 7 p.m. at the Civic Center.
Max Community Library's 4th Annual Soup and Sandwich lunch will be held on Sunday, February 12th, serving from 10:30-1:30 p.m. You may purchase your Max Community Library raffle tickets now. So far there are nine very nice prizes to be raffled off during the luncheon, although you do not need to be present to win.
In reading over information written January 19, 1928 about Max in the earlier days, we learn that “Max not only has a dandy little skating rink; it also has a fine high school, a cozy little movie theatre, two first class hotels, two of the most solid banking institutions in the state, two garages, five big elevators, two large department stores and other businesses with obliging attendants." Visit our local Schmidt Museum to learn and see more about Max as it used to be! You will be amazed!
