We extend our sympathy to Mary Lushenko and her family in the death of her brother, Pete Kizima. Many of you may know Pete, brother of not only Mary but also of the late Lena Vinarski and Annie Rovenko, formerly of Max.

Grandparent's Day breakfast is Sunday, September 11th from 9:30 - 12:30 at the Max Civic Center on Main Street. Pancakes and sausage will be served. Free will offering will help defray the costs of publishing and printing the Community Calendar. This event is sponsored by the Max Civic Club.

To those familiar with the computer, log onto http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com . Click to give a bowl of food for animals and then vote for Souris Valley HS; there are huge prizes being given to the animal rescue society that gets the most votes. Many more votes are needed to keep helping Minot's Souris Valley Humane Society.

October 12th is Civic Club at 7 p.m. Their annual steak fry and dance will be Saturday, October 29th at the Max Civic Center.

On the back of your free Community Calendar you will see the Max Public School has some appliances for sale. These are to bid on and bids must be submitted by September 19th.
