June 30, 2011

The Max All-School Reunion is upon us! It runs July 1, 2, and 3rd. Registration is at the school on Friday 4-7 p.m. and on Saturday noon to 4 p.m. The parade is always fun to watch! Line up is at 9 a.m. and the parade will start at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday morning. The banquet is Saturday 4:30-7:30. Sunday afternoon, July 3rd, there will a concert at the Civic Center, honoring Edwin Schmidt for his 80th birthday.

An announcement regarding the Class of 1965 at Max High School: "We would like the Class of 1965 to meet for a time of fellowship and snacks after the banquet on Saturday, at about 7 p.m., open house style at 705 Jacobson Avenue, home of Mary Lushenko. We would like to have a time to get reacquainted with everyone." -- Sent in by Shirley Lushenko Sizemore.

On an urgent note, there are requests from Minot's flood victims to find housing in Max. If you have anything, please contact Tamra Huesers or Margaret Zaderaka and we will get the information to those asking. Also flood related is the order to please conserve water, as the volume may be reduced due to the flooding in Minot. Max residents do NOT need to boil their water as the city gets its water from the Voltaire Treatment Plant and it has not been affected by contaminated water, like in Minot.

Many of you may have been glued to the television these last days, watching the flood coverage - and the water covering houses right up to their roofs. I'll put a couple of pictures in the news, along with one of the Garrison tailrace and one of the Garrison spillway that hasn't been used for 57 years! Pictures are of the Garrison Dam Tailrace - look at the water going wildly up on the fishing piers. And of the Garrison Spillway.
