Joann McElwain returned home to Max last Thursday evening after spending six weeks with her daughter, Julie, in Ca. From what we see in temperatures in our area, Joann didn't bring back any heat from CA! Glad you are back, Joann!
Almost 200 attended the Max Farmers Elevator's Annual Meeting and celebrated the elevator's 100th anniversary. A lot of prizes were drawn for and two beautiful blanket chests were sold by silent auction.
Have you purchased the Senior Citizens' cookbook yet? They are for sale at business places in Max. One error has been found on page 183 in Elaine Fischer's popcorn balls recipe. It should be 1 stick of margarine, not 2 sticks. If anyone catches any other errors, please contact me so I can notify the public through the Max News.
The Max Senior Citizens are still collecting Our Family brand food labels. Also, if you have any old t-shirts in any condition or color, please drop them off at the Senior Center so they may be taken down to the McLean County Independent, a collection site. Coming up on April 11th at 2 p.m. the McLean County Council will meet at the Max Senior Center. The guest speaker will be talking about ‘Living With Reduced Vision'. This is open to the public.
The deadline for purchasing tickets for The Plunge was last week. Max All-School Reunion is scheduled for July 1-2, 2011. Despite the poor weather on Sunday afternoon, the St. Matthew's Church's LWML Prayer Service had a good turnout. Someday the weather won't interfere with events!
The Max High School's Prom was held this past Saturday evening; their FFA banquet was held on Monday evening; and tonight, Thursday, the students will be putting on a play at 7 p.m. at the school.
