October 28, 2010

The Max Civic Club's Annual Steak Fry and Dance is this Saturday, October 30th with serving from 5-8 p.m. The dance will follow with music by Wayne Douglas of Max. The proceeds will be used to benefit the Max-Garrison Ambulance and also Civic Club projects, such as t-ball and swimming and many others. The Community Calendar is available free to you through these proceeds also. Everyone is welcome. See you there!

The October monthly potluck and meeting of the Max Senior Citizens was also a birthday get-together for 98 year old Ethel Boettcher of Max. The group sang to her and she enjoyed the many cards she received. Congratulations, Ethel, on being 98! Osteoporosis is of great concern to many people and even some people in and around Max have it. Your bones thin, become porous, and become more fragile so you may suffer more breaks. The Seniors learned more about this problem by watching a video on this subject during the meeting on Friday.

A note from Belinda (Sorenson) Riba. "About 4 weeks ago my friend Susan Gill and I drove my cousin Deb (Sorenson) Todd, her friend Penny Hand, Deb's son Ryan, daughter Anji, and Anji's fiancé Matt back to North Dakota

Deb hadn't been there in over 40 years. In the almost 2 weeks that we were in and around Max they got to see and do everything they came for. We had a great cousin's party at the hall in Max. They saw and took pictures of the Armed Forces Wall, went up to the school to look at and laughed at pictures of our parents and Aunties and Uncles, and we ate at the Max Cafe. We took a trip to New Town to meet up with Deb's cousin Dee, and to Minot to shop and to see our grandparents' graves in the Rosehill Cemetery.

Thank you to Ed and Dellora Schmidt for letting us into the Max Museum and to Rosalie Day for letting us take a tour of our Grandma Sorenson's house.

Also thanks to all the family and friends who put us up, and who put up with us! We had a great time!"

A reminder that the Good News Club is meeting at the school at 3:15 on these Mondays; November 1, 8, and 15th. All children are welcome to attend.

Other reminders: Recipes are needed for the Max Senior Citizens' cookbook. And tickets are for sale now for the Boys and Girls Basketball players' raffle which will help support the teams.

November 7th there will be a Dough Boy Breakfast served from 9:30-1. Fried bread dough, sausage and eggs will be served. The proceeds will be used to purchase new picnic tables for the Max city parks. This is being sponsored by the Max Park Board.
