Our sympathy to the family of Lucina Kabanuck of Max who passed away at the age of 89 in the Garrison Memorial Hospital. Her funeral will be tomorrow, Friday June 4th at 10 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Max.
Your Summer Reading program begins today, Thursday, June 3rd at the Max Community Library at 10:30 am. Children Pre-K through Sixth Grade are welcome. See the back of the printed Community Calendar or call the library at 679-2263 for more information.
Swimming lessons are full for the first session June 7-11. If your children are riding the bus, please have them at the school Monday-Friday at 1:15 and pick up time will be at 4:10. Make sure you send payment of $32.50 for each child, made out to the YMCA, on Monday or your child will not be able to swim. Also, don't forget to pack them a snack for afterwards!
Tuesday, June 8th is the City Election with the polls being open from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. The School Board election will also be held this same day from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.
On June 10th, Pastor Keith and Marilyn Kaynor of Michigan will be at the Senior Center in Max. Pastor Kaynor is a former pastor of First Baptist Church in Max. The Senior Center will open at 5:00 and a potluck supper will follow at 6 p.m. Come and get reacquainted with the Kaynors and hear his reports of his experiences and trips in Asia, South America, Africa, and Europe. Come and enjoy the fellowship.
Civic Club is going to meet at 6 o'clock on Monday, June 14th. Make plans to attend and enjoy supper together with your friends.
On June 15th, from 2 o'clock until 4 o'clock there will be an Open House at the Max Senior Citizens' Center so you can come and visit with us and learn what we do. Coffee and refreshments will be served. What a wonderful opportunity to learn more about your 'senior' community. (Write all these events on your home calendar, now!)
Remember Summer Solstice? On June 20th, the 4th Annual Summer Solstice will be held at the Max City Park, starting at 6 p.m. It has been well attended and enjoyed by many in the past years. Come find out what it is all about. More details on this next week.
Lila Fannik and Lorna Sambor recently returned from a trip to Minneapolis for a few days. They traveled by Amtrak to get to there, with Connie Sambor picking up her Mother and Aunt at the depot
On Friday and Saturday they enjoyed such a blessed time at Gospel Quartet concerts. So many quartets and so much beautiful harmony and wonderful messages.
Sunday they traveled to St. Paul to visit Keith Meronuck (Richard and Rose's son) who has M.S. His Mother, brother Chris, and wife Jane were there also. Connie took them back home. On the way they stopped at Hoffman, Minnesota to visit with their cousin, Roy Johnson.
Cleo Kulish of Dickenson visited Lila and Lorna on Monday evening. She is the State President of W.C.T.U.
Several from Max attended the Des Lacs graduation at the Burlington gym on Sunday evening. Dennis, Karla Fannik and Casey; Carolyn, Robert Barden and Will, and Lila Fannik attended. Following the graduation ceremony they all went to the Open House for Samantha Benzmiller.
Over the week-end, Julie Timothy (Sam and Ruth Timothy's daughter) visited with Lila Fannik and Lorna Sambor. She also visited with several other friends in Max. Julie came to place flowers on her parents' graves.
Last Thursday Pastor Dan Chell of Our Redeemer's Christian Church in Minot, came to the Benedictine Living Center in Garrison to visit with Marge Scurlock. Also there were Marge's sisters.
Eugene Zaderaka's sister, Esther Lund of Bismarck, and her daughters Laura Lund and Candace Lund, both of Minneapolis, visited the Max Baptist Cemetery before joining family for dinner in Minot on Sunday. We all then spent the rest of the afternoon visiting at Mark and Lori Zaderaka's home in Minot.
After arriving home, Margaret then went to her sister Elaine Fischer's home west of Garrison to visit with her niece, Elaine and Jim's daughter, Connie, from Rapid City, S.Dak.
