April 29, 2010

The Max News is written each week by Margaret Zaderaka.

Important: This Saturday, May 1st is Clean-up Day in Max. The city landfill will be open from 9:00 to 1:00 p.m. Branches and similar items that burn can be dumped free of charge. Normal rates apply to appliances and other items that do not burn. Help is available--also any needed information--by phoning the City Auditor's office no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 30th. City Auditor's office number is 679-2770.

The Good News Club is still meeting every Monday directly following school, in the school cafeteria. On Monday, May 10th the N.W. Director of Child Evangelism, Morris Erickson, will be visiting.

Remember to contact the Max Public School at 679-2685 if you have children who are aged 4 years or younger. This is for collecting data to estimate future class sizes in the school.

May 4th, Tuesday, at 7:00 p.m. K.X.M.C. television will be presenting their free weather seminar at the Max Civic Center. This is open to the public and will help you recognize any stormy weather that is approaching the community. Everyone is invited.

On Saturday, May 8th, from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. the Max Senior Citizens will be celebrating Older Americans Month at their center by serving free coffee and pie; having a bake sale; hosting Kyle's Greenhouse with their supply of potted plants, hanging baskets, and garden vegetable plants, and having a raffle drawing at 2:00. There are many quality items to be raffled off - you do not need to be present to win. This is open to the public.

The Senior Citizens recent monthly potluck and meeting included many men and women in attendance. There was some impromptu entertainment that had everyone in tears with laughter! You should come join at only $10 per person per year and see just what fun we all have!! It was announced that on May 8th, members need to have their baked goods at the Center by 9:30 a.m. for pricing. There will be a Cleaning Day on May 13th from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Men and women both are needed for this project. Anyone 'not yet' a Senior Citizen is very welcome to come help out! On June 15th starting at 2:00 p.m. the Center will be open for anyone who is wondering about joining, to come have a snack and visit with all the others there. The present members want you to see their beautiful building - a building that is available to rent reasonably for anyone to hold their dinners and/or events in. You do not need to be a member to use the building.
