February 18, 2010

In last week's news, I incorrectly stated that Wayne Thompson won the queen-size quilt in the Max Community Library's Soup and Sandwich raffle. It was Wayne Johnson who was the lucky winner!

Vi Kostenko's sister, Clarebelle Trondson of Stanwood, Washington has passed away. She was 82. Her husband Frank Trondson owned the Texaco gas station back in the 1950's in Max. It was located where the present Max Cafe is located now.

Word has been received that Sally Kabanuck's brother, Leonard Dean, has passed away. Many of you may remember these people.

This coming Thursday, February 18th is the Library Story Hour at 11:30 a.m. The next day, Friday, will be the screening of preschool children ages 3, 4, and 5 at the Max Public School. This will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. You do need to schedule an appointment for your child or children, by calling the Max School at 679-2685.

Donations are still being accepted for the new bleachers in the Max School gym. You may mail it to the Max Public School Bleacher Fund; P.O. Box 297; Max, ND 58759-0297. All contributors will be recognized sometime this coming spring.

Into next week, on Friday, February 26th, the Max Senior Citizens will hold their noon potluck with the meeting to follow.
