The events of this past week-end were all well attended. There was a steady stream of people enjoying the silent auction and very good spaghetti meal at South Prairie School - a benefit for Sharon Strilcov. Several from the area attended. The Max Catholic Church's soup and sandwich meal was also well attended. The raffle for the oil paintings done by Ellie Lindquist of Max were won by Joann McElwain of Max and the Mary Kay gift basket was won by Robert Johnson of Ruso.

Tomorrow, Friday October 9th you may get your flu shot at the Over 55 Club building from 3:15 until 4:15. Bring your Medicare card.

There is a baby shower for Jessica (Brett) Henne at the Max Over 55 Club building this Saturday, October 10th, at 2 p.m. You are invited!

Then Sunday, October 11th Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Max is having their lutefisk and meatball meal from 1 until 5 p.m. They are raffling off a crocheted afghan that is on display at Bremer Bank in Max. The Praise Band will start playing at 12:30 and the youth are having a bake sale. Come enjoy!

Starting October 18th, a Sunday, the Over 55 Club building will open at 2:00 for anyone of any age to come enjoy the pool table, play cards, play bingo, and other games or put jig saw puzzles together, have coffee and/or just visit. You do not need to be a member to come and enjoy Sunday afternoons.

Max's oldest citizen turns 97 on October 21st. so on Friday, October 23rd, following the Senior Citizens' potluck and meeting at noon, cake will be served at about 2 p.m.to honor Ethel Boettcher. Everyone is welcome.

Saturday, October 24th the Max Civic Club is having their Annual Steak Fry and Dance at the Civic Center. Tickets are for sale at the local businesses. Only 300 tickets will be sold. Serving will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. The dance will follow with music by TNT Productions. The proceeds go to the Max-Garrison Ambulance and Civic Club projects.

This coming Monday, October 12th, Civic Club will have a spaghetti and garlic bread meal at 6 p.m. The meeting will follow the meal.
