This coming Saturday, July 11th, an open house style Tea Party and Quilt Show will be held at the Max Senior Citizen Center, from 2 until 4 p.m. The seniors will have quilted items on display that they have made, received as gifts, or inherited. Bone China cups will be used and the tables will be decorated with fancy teapots and other tea cup themed items. There is a $5 admission fee which will go towards the continuing success of the Max Senior Center. Door prizes will be drawn throughout the time.

Child Evangelism Fellowship will be hosting a 5-day club at the Max City Park from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. each day from July 13 through July 17th. There will be group singing, games, Bible stories, a missionary story and snacks each day. It is designed for ages preschool through sixth grade. A team of two teens trained by CEF will be presenting. Plan to join us for some fun and lessons for life. For more information, please contact Lila Fannik or Cindy Capp.

On Friday, July 3rd, Marian and Nels Narum, Phyllis Narum, and Lila Fannik attended the funeral of Gary Engebretson in Velva.

There's something new, yet old, in Max. An old sign that appears to be wooden, was found in the Max Civic Center basement. It is on display in the City Auditor's office. It advertises many old Max businesses and also has a menu on it from a local cafe, selling hamburgers for 15 cents! More information is wanted on this sign so please go look at it and tell the City Auditor or Tamra Huesers what you know about it.

And speaking of 'looking at', those with computers, please go look at our new website for Max. The address is www.maxnd.com and you will be pleasantly surprised at how it has advanced. You can now get the Max weather right away and even a ten-day forecast. Also, if you have a house for sale or for rent, it can be listed on there for all to view. Many more advantages to this new site, over the old one. Please check in on it often. Our congratulations to Tamra Huesers for bringing this technology into Max.

Those enjoying a 4th of July picnic at Lorna Sambor's were Dorothy McLaughin, Frances Spitanik, Lila Fannik, Marian and Nels Narum and Phyllis Narum of Douglas, and Ellie Richmond of Ryder. We hope everyone had a safe holiday! The weather was perfect!

Reminder: You may attend a free local seminar if you are turning 65 or eligible for Medicare due to a disability. The North Dakota Insurance Department invites you to attend a free seminar about Medicare. Presentations will include Medicare 101 training, Medicare Part D, Medicare supplements and Medicare Advantage plans. This will be held on Tuesday, August 11th from 6:30 to 9 p.m. but you do need to register by July 30th by calling 1.888.575.6611 or emailing janfrank@nd.gov.

The Max Rodeo will be held August 7th and 8th. On the 8th, city wide rummage sales will be popping up all over town. If you are interested in participating, please contact Susan Halverson at 679-2607 or 679-2697 by August first. Your sale can then be put on the map that will be available to all shoppers and your sale will be included in all advertising about the City Wide event.

You will notice on the back of the July Community Calendar that the Max School has some lumber for sale on bids. These bids need to be received at the Max School Office by 1 p.m. on July 15th. Contact the school at 679-2685 to view the items and for more information. If you mail in your bid, send it to Max Public School at P.O. Box #297.

The Max Civic Club meeting will be held this coming Monday, July 13th. at 6 p.m. at the Civic Center.

July 30th is Senior Day at the North Dakota State Fair in Minot. The bus may be going up for this. Contact Duwayne Haynes if you would like to ride.
